In the beginning of golf there was a crooked stick, a ball stuffed with feathers and a fifth of single malt scotch that coincidentally holds 18 shots of whiskey.
Today things are a bit more complicated with an amazing array of golf clubs, tools, apparel, golf shoes, lessons, videos, golf courses and all kinds of silly golf gadgets. Despite all of the advances in the game one thing remains constant, you absolutely need a good golf swing to have any chance of winning much less enjoying the game.
Someone once broke the golf swing down into 24 separate elements with 12 variations to each element. Can you imagine trying to remember that many moves while standing over the ball? Neither can I.
A simple golf swing is just that. A simple routine that is effective and easy to repeat time and time again. Face it, you'll never be Tiger Woods and you'll never go pro, so don't try to copy Tiger's swing. Just play the best that your game and abilities will allow you and you'll have a heck of a lot more fun and maybe win a bet or two.
So here's a few random tips to help you find your "simple golf swing"
Set Up
Determine your target line and then place the club behind the ball so it is flush with the ball.
Now move your body and assume a stance with your feet shoulders' width apart. The line that would extend from right toe to left toe should be the same target line as the club is facing. Do not turn your left toe out. Keep it pointing straight. This will enable you to make a bigger shoulder turn in the back swing.
Grip the club and hold it straight up and extend your arms at shoulder height. Keeping your arms locked, lower the club to your belly button. Now bend from your HIPS, not your back, until the club touches the ground. You may have to move up or back a little to get flush with the ball. The idea here is to ensure your spine is straight because your spine becomes the axle for the swing.
This is the set up that you need to start the perfect simple golf swing.
If you want to see the rest of the routine you can go to Duffers Anonymous for the whole scoop.
When you are swinging your golf stick thing that you should keep in mind is that keep the arms at full stretch through out the swing.
